The client wanted the garage enhanced to be able to fully utilise the space available and integrate the space with the backyard and entertainment area of the house. By adding a custom built sliding wood panel door and recreating the roof paneling, a few other adjustments and now the space is more than just a home for the car. It is the drinks room for parties, a nice opening from the back street into the house and a better lit, more open space for use beyond just a garage.
For the inside, clever use of transparent and opaque roof panels creates a natural sense of light and openness, whilst the timber panels and solid timber sliding door, custom built, gives the garage a sense of being a natural extension of the house, rather than a spot to keep the car.
To give a sense of tranquility in the back garden, where the back of the home leads openly to the garden and private entertainment area, we created a segue to the garage of wood paneling and rendered brickwork.
With natural gumtrees and timber paneling both front and back, this garage has created a peaceful, functional and aesthetic space to return home to at the end of a long day. It livens up on the weekend for BBQs and parties.
